Gender pay and productivity in UK universities: Evidence from research-intensive Business Schools

چکیده

Women academics earn less than men, even after controlling for a range of productivity-related covariates. However, the latter usually do not include direct measures research productivity. This paper uses data from Higher Education Statistical Authority (HESA) confirming existence unconditional and conditional gender wage gaps. Data separately collected recent 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) shows men are more productive but that academic grade there is no productivity gap. For both gaps, barriers women to achieve needed be promoted, reducing these would go long way eliminating such
